Truth is I don’t know where I am going with my life, I am
just taking it day by day!!!- (A
very meaningful line which defines the ideal youth life)
Last Saturday when I was planning to relax, I got a phone
call from one of my old friend residing in the same city. He was going to doctor and
asked me to join. Since, the doctor he was consulting was a beautiful lady so I was happy to join him. I was wondering that what happened to this beast; the reason being
he was 6 feet’s tall and muscular. We reached the doctor’s clinic by 10
and there were almost 12 people waiting for their turn. At 2 pm we got a chance
to meet the doctor. As doctor got to know
that we work in a software company, she wrote some 3-4 tests. We went to the
laboratory for tests and got all the tests
done. The lab-assistant told us that the reports would be ready after two days.
The next week was hectic and we didn’t have any chance to take the reports.
Again, it was Saturday and the beauty of the doctor forced me to waste my
weekend with him. Anyways, since we visited after 1
week, doctor’s assistant asked us to pay the consultation fees again. After
seeing the reports, the (beautiful) doctor told that my friend is
suffering from the problem of “…………………….”
Wait for a minute, what she said?????
Depression…. I was not able to believe on my
ears, she suggested some exercises and meditations and told him to avoid all
the conditions that make him tensed.
I am not here to
discuss about the doctors or their practices, I want to discuss about the
problem of depression in young blood. Gone are the days when oldies used to face this problem. This is one of
the most common problems among the youth these days. Some
common reasons for this are:
1.
No girlfriend/boyfriend.
2.
Unemployment
3.
Low salary/ increments
4.
Performance
5.
Pushy Bosses
The world is going competitive and we should be ready for
the competition but the problem is we are
not able to handle the pressure. Office issues and worries contribute 70% of our
worries. I always wonder if God would have made a nail where we can hang all
our worries when at exit of the Office door.
So, how to avoid these problems, there are some small things
that we usually avoid or simply miss because of our busy schedule and I can bet
if we try those simple things we’ll enjoy our life like hell. Some of those
things are:
Walking bare foot on sand/ seashore. I used to think that how walking on a seashore bare
foot be one of the most wonderful feelings but trust me it really works. I really cannot define that awesome feeling in words. It is simply amazing.
Start waking up early. I know it’s really tough,
working late hours, then there are various commitments but believe me, “Wake up
early in morning and go for a small walk”. Feel the
beauty of nature. Just rewind your life for a moment and think when it was that
you have seen sun rising? I know it’s been long but it really works. Try it.
1. Start exercise.
You will feel that you have done something great for yourself.
2. Try cooking for instance; I myself being a horrible cook can advice you this is because you will love it. The time invested here is well worth the money.
3. Join twitter and by twitter I mean twitter. Facebook these days had become so crowded. Your Aunt, Uncle, Maternal Uncle, colleagues and Bosses, everyone is there on facebook you cannot outburst on facebook but twitter will help you doing that, you can write as much and as what you like, you don’t need to censor.
4. Learn some new language; it will help you groom both personally and professionally.
5. Playing old video games, especially Mario. Here you may contradict on my opinion but still it’s a huge stress reliever. It engages you to the core. True Story.
6. Meditation- although I don’t believe in the meditation theory but research says it really does. I simply cannot sit and concentrate, but people say it improves your focus, sharps your mind and help you to concentrate.
7. Help someone you don’t know. The pleasure you’ll feel cannot match with any feeling. There are some simple feelings which cannot be bounded in words and it is among one of those.
8. This is another interesting thing and this is the one I am trying to convert into reality. It’s having a pet dog. The way animals express their love for human is incomparable.
9. Start reading some good and motivational books. “The Secrets” by Rhonda Byrne and “The Monk Who Sold his Ferrari” by Robin Sharma are the ones you must read before dying.
10. Start writing diary, the way you want to plan your day and the way your day went. It should also include the way your life is moving. It will help you remember some those simple moments you want to remember for your life.
I am not a doctor,
life-coach or psychologist to advise you, but these are small things which if
tried can make the difference.
